Scheduled for next May, the event aims to redefine the festival circuit by introducing a multi-faceted model that seamlessly weaves together film screenings, creative industry exchanges, cultural programmes, and bespoke film-based tourism experiences.
To add a touch of glamour to the proceedings, organisers are planning to bring in a glittering array of Bollywood stars to enliven the atmosphere.
The festival's global appeal is already evident, having attracted a staggering 5,680 film entries from 120 countries ahead of its opening.
LIFF 2026 President, Dr Ferri Anugerah Makmur, confirmed that the three-day inaugural edition will kick off on May 2, perfectly coinciding with the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 celebrations.
