Established in 2025, the Langkawi International Film Festival (LIFF) is a landmark celebration of cinema, creativity, and culture nestled in the heart of Southeast Asia. Set against the stunning backdrop of Malaysia’s island paradise, Langkawi, LIFF was created to amplify diverse cinematic voices—particularly from the Global South—and to build bridges between cultures through the transformative power of film. As a key platform of the Creative Island Initiative, LIFF blends world-class screenings with rich cultural experiences. Held annually, LIFF welcomes filmmakers, cinephiles, artists, and industry leaders from across ASEAN and the world for a vibrant showcase of feature films, documentaries, animations, and shorts.

LIFF champions both established auteurs and emerging filmmakers, offering a curated selection of films that explore identity, society, humanity, and innovation in storytelling. The festival hosts over 100 international and regional films, masterclasses, industry talks, cultural showcases, and cross-disciplinary performances that include music, theatre, and traditional arts. From red carpet premieres to intimate island screenings under the stars, LIFF aims to create an immersive experience where art, nature, and people converge.
