Imam Syafi’i

Imam Syafi’i is an Indonesian filmmaker born in Klaten, Indonesia. He is a graduate of the Jakarta Arts Institute, majoring in Directing, and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at the Indonesian Institute of Arts.

His films have been widely recognized at national and international festivals. Topo Pendem (Merged with the Ground)was nominated for Best Short Film at the Indonesian Short Film Festival 2018. Gabul and Lilakno were nominated at the Asian American International Film Festival 2018.

His short film Kemanten (Into the Happiness) reached the Semifinals of the Student Academy Awards 2020, was nominated for Best Short Film at the Indonesian Short Film Festival 2020, and selected at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival.

Njuk Ngapuro (Unordinary Sane), produced with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, premiered at Nabifilmex 2021 (Philippines) and won Best Film at the FVE Ministry of Education and Culture Indonesia 2021.
Embek (The Silence of a Goat) won the Gajah Pinilih Award at the Ganesha Film Festival 2022, and Soto Ayam received the 2nd Winner Award at ACCFEST Movie Award (Short Fiction).
