Jinyu Wang is a documentary filmmaker currently studying at the School of Arts, Jinan University, majoring in documentary film. Her works focus on social realism, marginalised communities, and intimate human stories. Her film Calling was nominated for the 2023 China Documentary Academy Award and screened at the 5th China Ethnographic Documentary Academic Exhibition. Other works, including Southern Peony – Minxi Han Opera and I Love Mom, But I Don’t Want to Be Mom, have received multiple national awards in documentary, digital art, and visual storytelling competitions across China. Through her films, Wang Jinyu seeks to explore empathy, social structures, and the quiet struggles of everyday lives.
