Uttam Kamati is an independent filmmaker from India whose work spans fiction cinema, documentary sensibilities, and visual storytelling. Kherwal marks his debut feature film, following a series of acclaimed short films including Hope, which received recognition at sustainability-focused festivals in Dresden (Germany) and FINI Festival (Mexico).
Kamati has worked extensively as a cinematographer, assistant director, and screenwriter across feature films, advertisements, short films, and music videos. Beyond cinema, he is also an internationally awarded photographer. In 2015, he was honored with the Environmental Photographer of the Year Award (London), alongside accolades from the DMZ Global Peace Award (South Korea) and FIAP Bronze (Turkey), among others.
