She is a writer, director, and producer known for Salt of This Sea (2008), When I Saw You (2012), and Wajib(2017). Her debut feature Salt of This Sea earned a Camera d’Or (Golden Camera) nomination at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008. All three of her feature films were Palestine’s official submissions for the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
