NIGHTMARE

Renaldo Samsara is an Indonesian filmmaker educated at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), where he earned a tuition grant for Theatre Production Design and Fine Art at the age of 15. His early career includes the acclaimed short film Bliss, which received seven nominations at the 3rd Singapore Short Film Awards, including Best Screenplay and Best Fiction.
Samsara’s work is deeply informed by personal life experience and a multidisciplinary artistic approach, blending visual design, sound, narrative, and psychological depth. He believes that meaningful cinema emerges from the intersection of lived experience and artistic experimentation. Through Nightmare, Samsara continues his exploration of inner trauma, identity, and the fragile boundary between imagination and reality, establishing himself as a distinct auteur voice in Southeast Asian cinema.
